International Agriculture Show 2010
The 2009 show drew 669,725 visitors, including 129,414 trade professionals and nearly 5,000 international attendees, all looking to meet with industry peers and admire the 1,008 exhibitors and 3,500 animals on hand for the show.
In 2010 the Paris International Agricultural Show will include the 119th annual General Agricultural Competition for Animals, Products and Wines. This event, a recognized tradition among agriculture professionals, truly demonstrates the excellence of French breeds and top-quality products.
As a reminder, the 2009 event featured: 1) the General Agricultural Competition for animals: six animal species (cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, horses and dogs) and 120 breeds were presented. More than 2,000 animals were judged; 2) the General Agricultural Competition for products and wines: of the 17,396 products and wines on display, 4,272 were awarded special recognition.
For the first time, the show will host on 2010 the INTERBULL World Congress on Genetics, bringing together researchers and geneticists from around the world. The use of genetics on behalf of breeds found worldwide is now gaining international momentum, and this year’s show will offer an excellent showcase for the latest developments.
To enhance each visitor’s experience, the show is creating self-guided tours of the exhibition by topic that can be viewed at the event’s Web site. Visitors can prepare their visit in advance and print out an itinerary for seeing prizewinning products from the General Agricultural Competition, regional gourmet products or products that meet official quality standards, as well as a tour designed specifically for children.
